Just a short 15 minute drive from the inn, from late June to late August, a small year-round community of about 300 people swells to embrace tens of thousands who come to learn, be inspired by and share the experience that is Chautauqua Institution. Founded 135 years ago, Interfaith Worship, fine arts performances and world-renowned speakers now come every summer to Chautauqua for nine weeks to entertain and enlighten. Each week is themed and feature lectures and performances that fit the theme.
Several off-season programs run during fall and spring, such as Quilting Around Chautauqua, and when the snow flies, horse-drawn sleighs carry folks through the grounds to see the wonder of Chautauqua in winter. The summer themes are already in place and the entertainment is being booked!
